BIO
Ruth le Cheminant

Ruth le Cheminant is an artist whose journey is deeply rooted in the exploration of life's experiences and the expression of those encounters through her art. Trained as an art teacher at East Sydney Technical College, Ruth found her passion for the craft in the immersive studio environment, where she embraced the diverse facets of art practice.

In her final year, Ruth had a profound realization that shaped her artistic identity. She discovered that her art is not merely a reflection of the world around her but rather a manifestation of her lived experiences. Embracing this insight, she embarked on a fearless journey of living life to the fullest, absorbing its richness, and expressing her world through her unique perspective.

Inspired by the words of French painter Jean Bazaine, Ruth understands that youthfulness in painting is a reward earned through a deep immersion in the "milk of life." As she continues to drink deeply from this source, her work evolves into captivating abstract expressions, rich in depth and meaning.

Color holds a special place in Ruth's artistic palette, serving as a conduit to convey the wonders of her visual world to the viewer. Trusting her intuition, Ruth approaches each canvas with an open mind, allowing the painting to reveal itself organically. The process of creation is a fluid dance of paint, layers, textures, and lines, resulting in truly unique compositions that bear the imprint of her internal journey.

Through her art, Ruth invites viewers to join her in a conversation, to explore the depths of their own experiences and perceptions. Each painting is a testament to her unwavering commitment to authenticity and her belief in the transformative power of art.
